Updated for WordPress 3.4
Dear affiliate marketer,
I have but one question for you (okay, two) — on average, how long does it take you to update your affiliate websites? And did you know it could take you even less time?
Shape WordPress into a Full-Fledged Affiliate Marketing Machine
You've woken up one beautiful morning and as you fire up your e-mail program, you see that one of your affiliate merchants has introduced an entirely new product category for you to promote. Great! More products means more potential income.
As you browse through the new offerings, the bottom begins to fall out of your stomach a little as you realize that with more products comes more work for you; you'll need to create a 100 new individual product entry pages, set up the category listing page, and then update all the other pages on the affiliate site with the new category link.
Suddenly, your beautiful day is becoming a little more dull, but despite this, you proudly proclaim, "No problem! I'm motivated and filled will caffeine. I can knock this out in two hours tops."
By the 30th product page, you glance up at the clock and realize you're making great time. In the haze of your excitement, you accidentally copy over a product page you've already created with a new product page. This trend continues until you catch it 47 product pages later.
Another hour flies by. You've finally sorted through the whole product page fiasco and move on to creating your category listing page. This time around, you're very careful about adding each link. So careful, in fact, that you overlook the images you're placing along with each link. Now the picture of the blue widget leads to the red widget page and you don't catch it until you've already created every single product image and link on the page.
By now, as the clock rounds the 3.5 hour mark, you're ready to throw a shoe at your computer (or throw the computer out the window altogether) and you haven't even begun to update the linking structure site wide to incorporate the links to the new category page.
If you were fortunate enough to know about (and use) Server Side Includes, then updating the site wide links is only a matter of updating a single file. However, if you haven't heard of Server Side Includes, that's another hour with no guarantees of being error-free.
It's only then that you glance out the window because it seems as though the birds have stopped singing, the sun has stopped shining, and the once beautiful day has turned into a dim gray afternoon of website updates.
And there you have it, a "two hours tops" project just turned into a four and a half hour debacle that probably left you highly disillusioned and with a lot less hair.
You're not alone. There are many "I'm balder than I should be" affiliate webmasters.
It happens more often than you realize; you're not the only affiliate going through the website update blues. I know this because I've been there and done that (more times than I truly care to recall).
The good news is that there is a solution. It's called WordPress.
WordPress has a number of valuable features that you, as an affiliate marketer, would find useful:
- You have full control over how your site looks through the built-in theme system and the hundreds of available themes. If you don't like any themes, you can even create your own.
- Add your content quickly and easily with just a few clicks of your mouse and hitting a Publish button. No HTML editor required.
- User accounts allow you to outsource your website management without giving away full control of your website.
- Always keeps your link structure up to date automatically when new pages, products, or categories are added.
- Integrate a number of Web 2.0 marketing tactics with the built-in feed options.
- And if WordPress doesn't have a feature you want, there's a good chance it can be added with a plugin.
- By using WordPress to manage your website, you're saving time and money on development and maintenance.
Chances are good that you've already heard of WordPress because it's been touted as one of the best blogging applications ever created, but did you know it goes far beyond blogging? In as little as 30 minutes, you can turn WordPress into a complete affiliate website content management system.
Using WordPress as a CMS will lighten your workload when it comes time to keep your affiliate site updated because it automatically creates your category index pages and handles internal linking for you -- links to each category are automatically added site wide and the individual product links are added to the category pages. In fact, you won't even need to open up your HTML editor to add any new product pages.
In the How to Build an Affiliate Website Using WordPress course, I take you by the hand and lead you through the process of transforming WordPress into a CMS, from installation to adding products.
Yes, it's true. I know my stuff.
Even back when it was still considered a mystical art by many, I was pushing the limits of WordPress to turn it into a content management system. Since 2004, I've installed and set up WordPress many hundreds of times, and created and modified hundreds of designs from your average blog layout to full blown content management systems.
And along with being intimately familiar with WordPress, I'm also an affiliate marketer.
As I watched WordPress evolve over the years, I was elated when they made it astonishingly simple to convert it into a basic content management system. Now it has become my software of choice for building and managing affiliate websites.
That is exactly what I'll teach you to do with the How to Build an Affiliate Website Using WordPress course.
Look over my shoulder as I set up an affiliate website using WordPress.

- I tell you how to increase exposure and page views for more of your products, which can result in more affiliate sales.
- Learn how you can avoid having your site labeled as a "thin" affiliate site in the search engines.

- Discover the one thing your URLs shouldn't have and how to get rid of it.

The feedback has been phenomenal
When I created this course, it was my goal to thoroughly answer the questions I'd received about affiliate marketing with WordPress and the results are in...

You are a WordPress Goddess
"Awesome job...You are a WordPress Goddess, chock full of the knowledge I need. And even though I have set up WP blogs before, I learned some cool new tricks from the very start of this course. This is a much appreciated resource and gives me some tools I didn't know about to add to my arsenal. Also, I'm a datafeed dork and this has truly been a lifesaver."

She showed me how to design an affiliate website that keeps customers coming back.
"You've done it again! Your conversational style of teaching makes this course stand out among WordPress resources. The way you walk the reader step-by-step through the instructions makes it seem that anyone can do this.
The screen shots in the ebook support the instructions and yet don't seem overdone. Sometimes ebooks are so full of screens shots it makes you question the volume of information you really got. The added instructions to your screen shots helps the reader feel like they are right at your computer with you.
My favorite part of the course is the Quick Reference Checklist. I actually have created similar checklists myself and I love that you have done it for me!
Even though the overall tone of the course is for WordPress beginners, I think many beginners won't realize how significant the details you give for setting up the site are. Besides the fact that you give instructions for making the blog format into an affiliate website, your tips for the permalink customization, and the recommended pages, are details that can make such an impact on the success of a site. I was glad to see you covered adding content to the website beyond product pages. This really does make an affiliate website stand out from the rest. I definitely learned a few things.
This course made creating an affiliate website as easy as setting up a WordPress blog. As a customer of her previous book, I knew she would get right down to the step-by-step, "this-is-what-you-need-to-do" instructions. She's done that and more with How to Build an Affiliate Website Using WordPress. She not only helped me look at WordPress in a whole new way. She showed me how to design an affiliate website that keeps customers coming back.
You won't want this book just sitting on your hard drive. You'll want it right beside you as a "to do" list for your own affiliate website."
